The Vehicle is constantly changing

To better serve our clients, the ROPOS system has undergone major upgrades. In addition to our shallow (1000 meters) and deep (5000 meters) systems, a new 2500 meters mid-depth system is now available. Furthermore, with fiber-optics directly to the vehicle, the ROPOS system now provides its users with more flexibility and capability then ever before.

Main Camera: Wide angle SIT low light camera (tilt function)
Color Camera: Sony DXC-990 three CCD, broadcast quality NTSC camera with 16x zoom. (pan ,tilt, and extend functions)
Digital Camera: 5 megapixel w/ 10x zoom (tilt function)
Auxiliary Camera: Orion Zoom (fixed)
Surface Equipment: Full video console with 2 Sony DSR-45 DVcam tape decks, BetaCam deck and SVHS decks.

Manipulators and Sampling Equipment:

Kraft Raptor: 7 function w/ force feedback (200lbs lift at full extension)
ISE Magnum: 7 function (600lbs lift at full extension)

Bio-box and boot: 80 x 30 X 30cm and 26 x 37 x 17 cm
Suction Sampler: Variable speed, capable of pumping 300 liters per minute. Samples stored in 8 discreet two litre sample cylinders.
Laser scales: fixed to the camera to permit video record of specimen size and population density.
Temperature Probes: Three 0 to 400 C temperature probes.

Heading: IXSEA Octans III north-seeking fiber-optic gyrocompass (0.1 deg secant latitude accuracy with 0.01 deg resolution).
Heading 2: TCM2 Solid state flux-gate compass.
DVL: RDI Navigator 1200KHz with shallow water tracking (0.2m)

Detailed Systems Description:

Electrical:

System requires 380 - 480VAC at 50/60Hz to operate both the ROV (100 amps) and winch (200 amps). 115 - 120VAC 60Hz UPS desirable for console electronics.

Vehicle weight and size:

ROPOS has 3 foam packs designed for specific depth ranges. Each foam pack affects both the vehicle size and weight (in air) as follows:

Support systems weights and drawings:

• Shallow System : For work down to 1000 meters, this system is relatively light and can be installed on most vessels.
• Mid-Depth System : For work down to 2500 meters. This system offers several advantages even in shallow water, namely the 4000 lbs through-frame lift.
• Deep System : For work down to 5000 meters.
